Thursday was another day of hard work for the team! The boys worked extra hard in the afternoon while the ladies took some time to hang out with the kids at the orphanage. As you can see from the pictures, they enjoyed fixing the Americans hair, working with the feeding program, and Nella did some painting in one of the classrooms that will be used for the bi-lingual school that will be starting in February. Thursday night, they made s'mores with the kids! The kids LOVED them. What a great treat to have! You can check out pictures below! The team seems to be doing good health-wise. Jessie had some bad bug bites, benedryl seemed to be working, but making her very sleepy!

A Note From Barb LaCore Olson

This just came from Barb around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday (the pictures afterwards were posted by Jake)

"We have been in Honduras for over half of our time, and at times it seems much longer and other times it seems like no time at all, the children are all growing up and have changed a lot since I was here before , but they are still engaging and fun to be around. The weather is beautiful. I'm not sure what the temperature is, but during the day when we are working it is hot enough to have to drink lots of water. That's ok. I know I feel blessed to be here. Victoria is very appreciative of what we are doing for her. The local children come around every day, and some of the older ones help out a bit. We have been moving a lot of rock and dirt with shovels and wheel barrows, so "Bone Builders" has helped Caroline and I to be strong to do the work. God is good! It is hard for me to express all that I feel, but just being here has humbled me so much, and working with this group of people has truly been a blessing. They are a lot of fun, and yet serious about the work that is done down here. They truly have a passion for the mission field,and especially for the Children's Home. We will have a lot to share when we get home. I just pray that the things I am learning and experiencing will stay with me and make me more christcentered and aware of what He wants me to do for Him,

A Note From Dave...

This is from Dave O'Byrne...Tuesday 7:45 p.m.

Today was another good day. On Victorias house, more dirt was leveled off in the yard,and some fill was put in the bathroom and kitchen. The main work for the day was laying up block walls for the kitchen and bathroom..Everyone is working hard and sweating lots.
On a personal note, I enjoy coming back at lunchtime to visit with the kids from the feeding program,and seeing how many names I can remember. This year I,m trying to work on their family connections with each other. At the worksite there is a family next door with 6 girls and 2 boys that live in a shack not much better then Victorias was. One of the girls name is Raina and she is 9 years old. She laughs at us all day and even laughs at herself when she’s washing clothes on the washboard. I hope Raina can stay a happy Honduran girl for a long time before she is corrupted by the wants of this world. Thanks for praying for Raina and us, Dave

Monday!

Monday morning the team woke up for team devotions and breakfast! Jim woke up ill with stomach issues and a fever. He took medicine and is feeling a little better tonight. Marianna made him some special soup. The ladies have been helping take care of him. So keep Jim in your prayers! 3 other members of the group have taken cipro to deal with traveler’s diarrhea , and the medicine worked right away! They are able to keep working. They went to the work site in Victoria’s at 7:30 a.m. today. They pull the mixer with them behind the pick-up every day. Today they finished the septic tank. They also leveled off some sand under the kitchen & bathroom additions. The ladies and a couple of the guys moved all of the cement block where they needed to be. While some of the other guys got the footings ready to pour. At lunch time, the group came back and helped feed the kids at the feeding program, which is a group of 60-90 children that come from town to eat their one meal a day. After lunch, just the men went back to the work site and the women stayed at the children’s home. The men poured the footings and the cap on top of the septic tank.

This afternoon the women sat around and did the knitting looms making scarves, visited with each other and the children, and just relaxed and re-charged themselves to prepare for tomorrow! I got to skype with the whole team late this afternoon. The men are looking tired, the women are looking exhausted, but EVERYONE had big smiles on and seemed to have energy somehow! Some of them look to be getting a little tan/sunburn going on! And they all send their love and thanks for the prayers!

Tonight, after supper they had “Family Night Christmas” where the kids all received Christmas stockings that the Clark’s Grove group brought down with them. The Americans all told stories of their family Christmas traditions. And the Honduran kids all told some tradition that they do that they like. Some of them included eating tamales and drinking coffee, staying up very late on Christmas Eve, opening gifts and watching a movie, and getting a new outfit. It was a very fun night. The team ended the night with hot seat. A game where the team bonds and gets to know each other better. The team is bonding really well! They say it is super hot, around 90 degrees with 100% humidity. The women will come home with very good muscles from shoveling lots of sand and moving lots of blocks! Dave says he’s very impressed with the ladies and that the guys are doing ok too (hehe).

For those of you praying for Kelli O’Byrne, with her heart issues, I have been constantly asking how she is doing. She says the prayers must be working because she has hardly had any “flutters” at all. She had one small flutter tonight, but she says she is feeling great and having a wonderful time.
